Immunoglobulin-production and surface-bound immunoglobulins in chronic lymphocytic leukemia, lymphosarcoma, and so-called reticulum cell sarcoma.

چکیده
Conventional light and electron microscopic methods do not allow a differentiation of Tand B-cells. A clasdficntion of neoplastic lymphatic cells into one of these subpopulations is therefore impossible with common morphological methods. It was not until specific cell funktions, i e. immunoglobulin(IG)-production and the formation of surface-Ig(S-Ig)-receptors, were demonstrable that one could identify B-cells and thereby distinguish them from T-cells. The demonstration of Ig-production therefore represents a method which reveals more information about the nature of mdignant lymphoma cells,

Lymphosarcoma cell leukemia: the contribution of cell surface study to diagnosis.
Cell surface immunoglobulin, complement receptor, and spontaneous rosette formation with sheep erythrocytes were investigated in 43 patients with malignant lymphoma, including 13 with lymphosarcoma cell leukemia, and in 59 patients with chronic lymphocytic leukemia. The quantity of immunoglobulin on the lymphocyte surface was estimated from the intensity of fluorescent staining with fluorescein...
متن کاملTpa-induced maturation in secretory human B-leukemic cells in vitro: DNA synthesis, antigenic changes, and immunoglobulin secretion.
The maturation of malignant cells in response to differentiating agents is interesting as a model of normal differentiation. The response of a freshly explanted neoplastic population of phenotypically well-characterized lymphosarcoma cell leukemia blasts was studied after incubation with the differentiating agent TPA (12-0-tetradecanoyl-phorbol-13-acetate). Terminal differentiation was assessed...
متن کاملCLASS, SUBCLASS, AND ALLELIC EXCLUSION OF MEMBRANE-BOUND Ig OF HUMAN B LYMPHOCYTES
Membrane-bound immunoglobulins of peripheral blood B lymphocytes and of lymphocytes from an IgG chronic lymphocytic leukemia showed restriction to one immunoglobulin class, one IgG subclass, and one Gm allotype. Certain antigens in the C-terminal part of IgG Fc were not exposed on the cell surface.
متن کاملThe ultrastructural localization of immunoglobulins in human b cells of immunoproliferative diseases.
The cellular distribution of immunoglobulins in human malignant and normal B cells was investigated by immunoelectron microscopy by direct incubation of fixed cells with electron microscopy by direct incubation of fixed cells with peroxidase-coupled antibody. These conjugates penetrated into the cell, resulting in the simultaneous detection of surface and cytoplasmic immunoglobulins. The latter...
متن کاملBlast cells with monoclonal surface immunoglobulin in two cases of acute blast crisis supervening on chronic lymphocytic leukaemia.
Acute blast crisis occurred in two patients with previously well-confirmed chronic lymphocytic leukaemia. The finding by direct immunofluorescence of membrane-bound monoclonal immunoglobulins on the surface of the blast cells showed that they were related to B cells in the same way as the proliferating lymphocytes in most patients with chronic lymphocytic leukaemia. In one patient the surface m...
